The new single comes on the heels of ‘Soothsayer’, a hard-hitting cut praised by CLOUT for its “classic UK indie rock sound but with a slick, modern cutting edge”, which signaled the return of the band to the live circuit with a month long residency at The Voodoo Rooms (Speakeasy) in Edinburgh. Now ready to take their rapturous live set on tour, the four will play a series of shows in independent, grassroots venues including the Victoria Vaults in York on July 1st, The Ferret in Preston on July 2nd, the Settle Victoria Hall in Settle on July 15th and Stowed Out Fest in Stow on August 13th. ‘MTSB’ is about an alternate reality, where things can be felt, heard and seen, though only understood with a shift of consciousness into another dimension. “It was inspired by the idea of a parallel reality not too dissimilar to our own”, explains lead singer Eugene Gaine, adding that, “It’s a world not easily accessed, with strange subtle differences that make it both familiar and otherworldly.” Once in the studio the four brothers “were able to create a dreamlike sound that ultimately inspired the lyrics” by playing around with odd chord progressions, synthesizers, delay and reverb pedals, and a drum machine pattern created “on a Yamaha electone organ that we bought for £3.50,” admits Eugene.
Directed by Chicago based artist Dorota Tylka, the animated video for the single was “inspired by vaporwave AERS, 80’s Digital Style and what I see everyday in Chicago, the place I live and create,” explains the talented illustrator and graphic designer. Perfectly depicting the song’s otherworldly atmosphere, the entire animation is a “one man show” digital rotoscoping, “frame by frame drawn and colored over video footage and illustration, while the backgrounds are based on photographs of real locations around the city”.

Named as “one of the best live acts around at the moment” by Jim Gellatly, Dubinski is an indie rock outfit hailing from Edinburgh, Scotland. Formed by four Yorkshire-born brothers: Eugene, Fergus, Donal and Eoin Gain, who moved to the Highlands early in their childhood. After moving to Edinburgh to study, they took their music from the bedroom to the studio, releasing a series of EPs under the moniker Ded Rabbit. Firmly making a name for themselves on the Scottish music scene, thanks to their fast-phased alt-rock and visceral live sets, Dubinski have been praised by the likes of BBC Radio Scotland, Scotland On Sunday and Record Of The Dayamong others – and went onto be nominated for best newcomers at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards, and performed on some of the biggest stages in the country and across the UK including T in the Park, Wide Days and Liverpool Sound City. About their moniker they say; “as kids, after we booked our first show, our mother answered a call from a local journalist who asked what our band was called. She quickly responded ‘Ded Rabbit’ and hung up the phone. The name just sort of stuck”. After their mother sadly passed away, the brothers took a pause to reflect upon finishing their debut LP, which they recorded at RAK Studios in London with Grammy Award winning producers/engineers Mike Horner (Yonaka, Franz Ferdinand, Hot Chip) and Robbie Nelson (Beck, Jarvis Cocker, Rolling Stones). With their new album now in hand, the brothers are not just raising their musical bar, but paying tribute to their late mother, Eugenia Dubinski, taking on her maiden name Dubinski.
