The 2022 Open Championship finally kicks off Thursday morning, July 14, with the opening round at the Old Course at St. Andrews. Here’s what you need to know to watch Round 1 of the Open Championship on TV or online.

Previewing Open Championship Round 1

On the eve of the 150th Open Championship, Rory McIlroy seems to have destiny on his side. The veteran pro, who won four majors early in his career, has not lifted a major championship trophy in nearly eight years. But McIlroy has returned to form over the past year, winning twice, contending in majors and rising to World No. 2.

But if you want to catch Rory’s opening round from the US, you’ll have to wake up early. McIlroy starts Round 1 at 4:58 am ET with Xander Schauffele and defending champion Collin Morikawa.

If instead you’re most interested in watching Tiger Woods compete for the first time since May, you shouldn’t have to set an alarm. Woods is set to start his tournament Thursday morning at 9:59 am ET alongside Max Homa and newly-minted US Open champion Matt Fitzpatrick.
